Yuko System FAQs

YUKO SYSTEM “repair” the unique hair-straightening system, was created in Japan as a means to straighten naturally or artificially curly hair without damaging it. Previous methods straightened hair with good results, but it was inevitable – and accepted – that the hair would be damaged. The innovative YUKO SYSTEM “repair” however, not only straightens curly or wavy hair, but also has the ability to turn damaged hair back into healthy hair. It makes healthy hair glossier and shinier and offers a hair care menu that belies the accepted truth about straight permanents: It actually restores damaged hair.

QWhy YUKO SYSTEM? How can I restore my damaged hair?

Hair can be damaged when the hair cuticles are torn or when there is a loss of protein from within the hair shaft. This unique new hair care system restores those nutrients to the hair by using a specially designed iron, heated to 180º C, to heat-seal collagen, keratin, silk protein, and other proteins that are naturally present in the hair. Finishing off with Phi-ten treatments, hair is left feeling noticeably healthier and shinier!

QWhat is Repair?

The word “repair” means restore, as well as fix. We gave the name Repair to the straight permanent process we developed because our process aims not only to straighten wavy or curly hair, but also to restore and revitalize it.
The straight permanents of the past were intended only to straighten naturally or artificially curly hair. Everyone assumed that the damage caused by the process was unavoidable. REPAIR, however, not only straightens curly or wavy hair, but also has the ability to turn damaged hair back into healthy hair. It makes healthy hair glossier and shinier. REPAIR offers a hair care menu that belies the accepted truth about straight permanents; it actually restores damaged hair.

QWhat are the Permanents?

As you know, permanents first chemically break the bonds connecting the proteins that make up the hair, then apply a wave (or other shape) to the hair while it is malleable, and finally restore the hair’s protein bonds to fix it in the new shape. Both permanent waves and straight permanents operate under this same principle.

QHow is REPAIR different from the straightening methods of the past?

The condition of the separated faces that remain after the protein chain is cut by chemicals is very important. If the surfaces are cut unevenly, they do not line up well when they are reconnected later on. In the body, when you cut yourself with a sharp knife, the wound tends to heal better than when you cut yourself with a blunt knife. The situation is similar with permanents. One thing that makes REPAIR special is its use of a permanent chemical that allows it to cut the cystine bonds very cleanly. The straight permanents of the past could not achieve the same clean cuts.

Hair Straightening Home After Care

WETTING. Wet your hair as though you are soaking your hair in water.

Yuko System

The first step in shampooing is to wet your hair with moderate temperature (100F) and low water pressure. Trap the water with your hands and gently massage with it. Gently repeat this procedure 3 minutes. At this point, dirt and oil on your hair will be rinsed out.

Check! Single strand of hair is very fine. If you rinse your hair with hot water, it will cause the cuticle to peal. Also, essential oil will run out.

SHAMPOOING. Shampoo your scalp! Only lather the ends.

Yuko System

Proper way of shampooing is to shampoo your scalp. Put shampoo on your scalp, not on your hair. Apply shampoo from the nape, around the ears and hairline. Gently massage the scalp throughout your entire head. Keeping your scalp clean and healthy is very important.

Check! It is not necessary to lather up so much! Too much lathering can cause damage to the cuticle of the hair.

RINSING. Gently rinse your hair.

Yuko System

Just as you wet your hair in the first step, trap the water and massage with it. Do not use strong water pressure to rinse your hair.

WARNING! Certain kind of styling materials can change the way you shampoo the hair.Styling materials used will harden up throughout the day. It should be thoroughly rinsed out before applying the shampoo, but never brush it out before wetting. Apply shampoo, gently lather and massage your entire scalp. Let it sit with lather for 1 minute. This will cleanse the build up of the styling material on your hair. After rinsing it out, apply conditioning treatment.

For damaged hair apply treatment before shampooing.

Yuko System

If your hair is damaged, wet your hair thoroughly and apply treatment to protect your hair before you shampoo. Apply treatment only on the ends. For the hair longer than shoulder line, apply treatment and let it penetrate into the hair as you gently massage your hair. The amount of the treatment is about the size of teaspoon for long hair.

TREATMENT. Apply the treatment below the ear line.

Yuko System

Conditioning Treatment is to revitalize and replenish lost protein and other vital nutrients in damaged hair. Since there are more people with damaged hair nowadays, it is necessary to apply conditioning treatment every time you shampoo your hair. The amount of conditioner applied varies, but roughly 3cc for a medium length hair and 5cc for a long hair.

Check! It is very important not to rinse the conditioner completely out. Leave some in your hair. For highlighted or bleached hair, conditioner can be applied every time you shampoo your hair.

TOWEL DRY. Gently towel blot excess moisture.

Yuko System

Towel blot excess moisture out rather than rubbing down with a towel. Excess moisture left in the hair will gather at the ends as time passes by. Gently blot the moisture at the ends to avoid friction between strands of hair that will cause cuticle to peel.

BLOW DRYING. Blow drying can prevent further damage of the hair.

Yuko System

Air drying your hair after the shampoo will cause more damage than blow drying. After towel drying your hair, spray a leave in conditioner. Then blow dry the nape area first, leaving the area above the forehead second. The bottom part should be dried first, so that the top part does not absorb the moisture from the bottom. In the end, this gives body to your hair. No matter how much you use the blow dryer, the top will remain flat because the hair soaks up moisture from the bottom while it is wet. Begin styling the hair when the scalp is completely dry and 80% of the hair is dry.

LONG HAIR. How to maintain beautiful long hair.

Yuko System

Long hair tends to get very damaged easily. Any hair passed shoulder length can be considered damaged. Hair is a build up of dead cells, so it does not have the ability to heal and revitalize its own damaged areas. Natural oils from your scalp can only reach to your ear line. If you keep this in mind every time you shampoo your hair, it will make a lot of difference.
